Christian (Chris) Joel Weber was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 27 September 1979 to parents Raelene Heather Weber (née Collins) and Donald Neil Weber.
Showing an early aptitude for music, Weber attended Westminster School on a performing arts scholarship and was a member of the school senior and junior stage bands, concert band, and brass ensemble throughout his time at the school (1993-97).
After completing a Bachelor of Behavioural Science majoring in Psychology, he undertook study in Jazz Performance through Adelaide University’s Elder Conservatorium (2002-03,07) with a 3-year hiatus living in Japan before completing the Bachelor of Music in 2007.
Most of Weber’s performing is as a trumpeter with groups such as Adelaide-based soul-funk band, The Transatlantics (from 2008 – present) with fellow members Ross McHenry, Kevin Van Der Zwaag, Tara Lynch, Lachlan Ridge, Kahil Nayton, Dylan Marshall, Jon Hunt, and Kyra Schwartz.
In 2008, Weber formed a New Orleans jazz inspired side-group called Atlantic Street Band with co-members Jon Hunt (clarinet/sax), Kyra Schwarz (trombone/sousaphone), and Kevin van der Zwaag (drums). Atlantic Street Band continues to perform regularly throughout Australia, particularly in Adelaide although Hunt and Schwarz no longer live in Australia and van der Zwaag tends to play only about 10% of ASB gigs due to other commitments.
